The Perfect Union of Vintage & Modern

With the announcement this morning of our New Sponsor & giveaway by Ephemera And More
it got me thinking about {vintage}
vintage accessories. vintage decor. vintage interiors.
Vintage is a non-perfect, mix and match style of different looks, showcasing different eras.  The William Howard Thompson House featured in Country Living is a great example of unionizing vintage and antique pieces with modern-day amenities.  Integrating classic European accents with slipcovers and bare floors, creates a setting the entire family can enjoy and call home.
This iconic landmark located in the historic district of Jacksonville, Illinois exemplifies authentic Architectural Detailing with vintage sophistication.
The breakfast room adjoining the kitchen and living areas, epitomizes a classic, chic style with the antique crystal chandelier and soft, soothing colors.
Amazing Architectural Detailing ~ WOW!  The archway between the two spaces is edged with “tooled leather”, complete with carved Indian Heads
(Interesting element).
“Vintage Volumes” adorn this antique side chair
This exquisite and ornate vanity is bedecked in silk emulating a “bustled skirt”
The soothing blue and natural hues of the dining room is offset by the eclectic, vintage look of mix-n-match plates and accessories.  With the bare floors and slipcovered seats, this space has the feeling of luxury, but the function for true living.
The architectural details and accessories adorning this 1860s home is simply….{beautiful}
At first glance, you would be afraid to live in this room, but the beauty of this home is that wear (and tear) is expected and accepted with kids and pets. A scratch on the floor (from a piece of furniture) just makes this house feel more vintage and truly a home!
The owner’s daughter has the love for vintage as well. She has a passion for mixing and matching her fashions ~ as seen here by her pairing a vintage dress with simple, everyday blue jeans.

What style is your home?  Do you incorporate vintage pieces in your decor?

    I just love vintage in fashion and decor. My house is a mix of thrifted pieces, vintage pieces, and ikea/my mom's basement :).
