Design Star Episode 2 Airs Tonight!

The 6th season of HGTV’s Design Star premiered last Monday.

Did you watch?  What did you think?

The 2nd episode of the season will be airing tonight at 9pm/8c.

It was great meeting the new contestants for the return of another inspiration season.  Each designer has quite the resume, but personally I’m not so sure they all delivered on their first task.  Their opening challenge for the season was to transform the space where they’ll be living in New York City.  If you missed it, here’s a recap:  Designers were paired with each other and each group of two had a space to transform their given room from a white shell to a design beauty.  BUT…I wasn’t entirely convinced that they stepped-it-up enough to reveal their true potential.  Most of the rooms were very “safe” and simply ordinary.

These are some of the completed spaces that were created.  Take a look {here} to see more pictures.

Designers to Watch

Karl, the winner of the first task, had a great idea of creating branches using painters tape.  This simple, but dynamic idea really stood out to the judges.  He’ll be one to watch this season!

His partner on this task, Kellie, an Interior Designer from Oklahoma, is another one of my favorites this season.  She was up against transforming an empty space under a stairwell into a designer show-stopper.  With this nook having the only window in the room, she created a cozy, stylish, and inviting hideaway perfect for reading or just ‘hanging out’.

I’m eagerly anticipating tonight’s episode.  I am sure the designers had their first task jitters on last week’s show, and this week the 11 remaining contestants will showcase their true design style and talents in the return of the well-known white box challenge – it wouldn’t be Design Star without it!
