SAS Interiors Got a Makeover

I’m sure if you’re a daily reader of SAS Interiors, you’ve noticed a few changes around here…right?

About a week (or two) ago, I went live with a new site design.  The overall look of SAS Interiors stayed the same, but in an effort to make the site more stylish and easier to navigate, I updated the layout (well I didn’t actually do it, but my fabulous graphic designer did – more on her later – keep reading)…

Here’s the new look of the home page ~

No one likes change (I get that), but I appreciate your patience in navigating the new site layout.  To help you out a bit, here is some info on the updates (and/or you can always email me with any questions):

One of the big changes is the header area.  The whimsical, script font next to the SAS Interiors logo are links to past posts pertaining to Interior Design, DIY, and Decorating – the heart of SAS Interiors.

Below that is a similar navigational bar to the old site, but with revised links to information on:

The end of the nav bar is complete with a search bar!  Looking for something specific on this site?  Type it in and press search – all the past posts pertaining to your inquiry will come up.  If you can’t find something, contact me.

Another update is the Welcome box.  It used to be on the left side of the blog, but now it’s moved to the right and got a lil’ makeover.  The bio / welcome box now has 4 tabs, which you can click and receive information on: Subscribing to SAS (through email or RSS feed), Connecting with SAS all across the web, and Contacting me if you have any design related questions.

If you click on each tab, this is what you’ll get~

Next site change?  The SAS blog area.  This is my favorite update! There’s a scrolling feature box on top, then snippets of posts below.  A reader can easily and quickly view what they’d like to reader versus scrolling and scrolling and scrolling…

Still not sure where to look for something?  The footer area is a directory to all the information on the site ~ it’s all here!

Did you check out the Haven button on the sidebar?  Yup, that’s it, right over there to the right.  Haven is a blogging conference that I’ll be attending next June – it’ll be my first one.  SO nervous, but SO excited too!  Sorry, I got distracted…

I know many of you really like SAS Interiors because of all the resources that I share.  These go-to places haven’t disappeared, but they are now located in a different spot.  If you go to the top nav bar, click Design Resources, you will be brought to a page filled with links to my favorite online shops!

Did you know that you can also easily and quickly check out ALL the blog posts I’ve written over the past year.  Go to Archives in the navigational bar and the page will look like this~

Instead of the Best of SAS posts on the sidebar, they have their own page now (it’s continually being updated, so check back often) ~

And last, but NOT least…we have a fabulous spot for our amazing sponsors!  Interested in being an advertiser on SAS Interiors, check out the information {here}.

These sponsors are what keep me going everyday, so a BIG thank you to all of them!

I am also SO thankful to Katie Lane of Dreamup Studios for working with me and listening to all my crazy ideas throughout the process of giving my lil’ ole’ blog a much-needed makeover.  With my one year anniversary coming up, this update was a great way to step in to year 2!

If you’re starting a new business or blog, or simply need to freshen up your current look (like me), please reach out to Katie…she’s amazing!

So tell me what you think…  I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new site (be kind, please).  What do you like?  (or don’t like?)  And remember, if you can’t find something, just contact me.  I’ll be glad to help you out…

Jenna, I’m probably the only person in the world that LOVES change!!! I really like the new design of your blog. Wonderful improvements! And also love the instructional tutorial you put together- really helps me understand how it all works. Great job!!

So you’re making the site changes by yourself? Good Luck – can’t wait to see what you do! I did that for a long time and then got to a point of feeling stuck. I know just a little bit of HTML and CSS, but to make real changes, I needed to depend on someone else. Can’t wait to see what you do!

It looks great Jenna! I’ve noticed for the past few weeks, and think I’ve even commented on the new look before. Congratulations on one year! : )

I’ve been toying with the idea of changing my blog name. When I first started I didn’t really think about it and had no idea where I’d be going with my blog. Eventually I’d like to be a dot com instead of using blogger. Oh, I don’t know, soo many decisions…
