As I just finished up my staircase makeover, I now realize how important it is to use the right products to protect wood surfaces. After the stairs were complete, the Mister and I headed outdoors to finally paint the exterior fence that we gave a thorough washin’ a few weeks ago. Then it was time to protect it!
If you’re a Facebook follower, you may have seen this instagram picture that I shared last weekend…
It was a hot and sticky day, but the work had to be done. The tried and true product to use for exterior wood stains and wood finishes is Flood® Wood Care, which has been around since 1841 and has earned it’s reputation as “The Wood Care Specialist”.
Why go anywhere else?! The day we painted the exterior fence was hot, hot, hot, and honestly we have no interest in doing it again for a looooong time! Flood stain products give the perfect result because it delivers quality results and a long-lasting performance – a product right up our alley.
Check out the before…
Just like you need to apply sun screen to protect your skin from the sun, exterior woods (fence, decking, siding, furniture, playground equipment) need similar protection!
Me hard at work…
And the after…
Huge difference, right? I decided to use a solid wood stain, but a semi-transparent which will show more of the beauty of the wood grain, is also a possibility. Check out more of the exterior wood products here - Flood has a huge variety to choose from.
Now, I will admit that there is another area in the yard that is in need of some major TLC. Check out these pictures from the back deck – you may be scared, so brace yourself.
Horror, right? My deck is the perfect candidate to enter the Take it Easy Sweepstakes, and you can too!
$2K for supplies and labor to stain my deck? … I’ll take that any day, wouldn’t you?! Simply fill out your info, answer a few questions about your deck, and 10 seconds later, you’re done. How perfect is that – Good Luck (and let me know if you end up being the winner).
Now that it’s nearly summer, we’ll all be spending a lot more time outdoors and many wood elements make up your outdoor space (ie: fences, decks, siding, furniture, playsets, etc.). Are there any that need sprucing up at your home?
